DEMAND RESPONSE
Sanrgy provides the utmost satisfaction in demand response planning and execution. We work with end-users, utilities and grid operators to create and grow demand-side solutions customized for each specific territory and customer make-up.
Demand response is the action of end users lowering their demand for electricity (reducing consumption) in order to help balance supply and demand on the electric grid and ensure stability. The greatest need for demand response typically occurs during times of peak electricity demand, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., when extra strain is placed on the grid from situations such as increased air conditioning use on hot days or downed power lines resulting from a storm.
Although various types of electric demand response have been used since the 1950’s, demand response has gained in popularity over the past few years due to the inability of current and forecasted supply to keep up with end-user demand. Demand increases have been caused by population growth, proliferation of electronics and increased air conditioning in home and office spaces. Supply cannot keep pace for a number of reasons, including environmental regulations that restrict emissions and mandates for energy supply to be comprised of a certain level of renewable resources.
For utilities, demand response reduces power grid outages, lowers wholesale energy costs and offers flexibility to meet demand at low costs. Business end-users enjoy the benefits of incentive payments, advanced metering and resource management, playing a role in being environmentally responsible and having a positive impact on their communities.
Sanrgy has been at the forefront of the demand response industry, vocal in industry legislation and a source of information and guidance to utilities, commissions and industry groups across North America and Europe.
Whether you are an end-user, utility, grid operator or potential strategic partner, Sanrgy can provide you with the expertise and tools to reap the greatest benefits out of demand response, energy management and related services.
